Wales

Users in Wales access the internet-hosted version of the Map of Medicine.

The Wales national view URL for logon/registration is wales.mapofmedicine.com.

First-time users of the Map complete a registration form. For users who register on the Wales national view, the registration details come through to us and we process it. The user receives an automated email confirming that a personal account had been approved, and they can then use their e-mail address and a password to access the Map.

North England

CSC are the service provider who cover the North of England, The Midlands and East of England (NME).

Access is by using a smartcard over an N3 network connection. This connects the user to the CSC-hosted version of the Map. A user is able to access the Map of Medicine via the CSC portal page, and the URL for direct access is https://neem.mom.nme.ncrs.nhs.uk/display/1/index.html (this link is only available within N3).

Users can only access the Map if their organisation has been enabled by CSC to access it. Users without smartcards should contact their NHS organisation's Registration Authority.

London

The London area is served by BT Health (the Local Service Provider).

They have chosen to provide access to the Map over the internet. The URL for London users is london.mapofmedicine.com.

BT have chosen to use an external authentication mechanism called Athens as the mechanism for access, so there is no registration or adminstration of users on our part. Instead, users are approved for Athens accounts by a local Athens administrator; all users with Athens accounts have access to the Map.

Users who do not have an Athens account can self-register via a link from the above URL and management of the users is typically undertaken by NHS Librarians.

Southern England

Access for users in the Southern Cluster is different to the rest of England and Wales. They have decided to use a shared username and password approach. This means that all the users in a given area (Local Health Community) share the same username and password. These have been pre-agreed between Connecting for Health and Fujitsu (the local service provider). Fujitsu host the Map within their N3 data centre and this can only be accessed from within the N3 network at mom.sou.ncrs.nhs.uk.

To receive an email reminder of your username and password, please send us your full name together with details of your LHC, role and organisation to webinquiry@mapofmedicine.com
