Map of Medicine joins Hearst Corporation

We are delighted to announce that the Map of Medicine has been acquired by Hearst Corporation, to join Zynx Health in delivering world-wide clinical solutions for improved patient care.

Hearst is the logical home for Map of Medicine. Hearst’s subsidiary, Zynx Health is a clear market leader in evidence-based clinical information in the USA, operating in over 1400 hospitals, with a wealth of experience in supporting change in clinical practice.

Hearst's investment in Map of Medicine will enable the establishment of a truly international standard for the embedding of evidence into clinical workflows.

NICE guidance available in The Map

NHS healthcare professionals in England and Wales will soon have greater accessibility to NICE guidance after an agreement between the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) and the Map of Medicine.

"The Map of Medicine is a valuable tool for healthcare professionals. Because it is underpinned by NICE guidance, where this is available, it supports our commitment to encourage implementation of our guidance and encourage evidence based practice in healthcare."
said Andrew Dillon, Chief Executive of NICE.

Map of Medicine at the British Library

Over 120 GPs, nurses and librarians from the NHS attended the Map of Medicine training event at the British Library. For those who have recently adopted the Map, it was a chance to raise awareness of their successes. For other delegates it was an opportunity to meet and share how best to use the Map.

Training for early adopters

One of the key features of the Map is the ability for PCTs or Trusts to add their own procedural, administrative and best practice information to each patient journey, adapting it to local healthcare needs. A number of case studies from early adopter sites were presented at a Training Day held on the 5th September in London.

New BT Health and NHS London investment in the Map

The Map of Medicine’s 387 patient care pathways will soon be available to all NHS staff in England and Wales following the agreement reached for the London area with BT Health.

For the first time all NHS staff such as doctors, nurses, midwives, allied health professionals, healthcare scientists and trust managers will have access to a single view of the best clinical information and latest guidelines relevant to a patient’s pathway and approved by NHS experts. Read more
